Sid "Hardrock" Gunter: "Alice" & Guitar Instrumental (Acetate Disc / Audio)
Title
Sid "Hardrock" Gunter: "Alice" & Guitar Instrumental (Acetate Disc / Audio)
Description
One-of-a-king acetate disc recording by Sidney Louie "Hardrock" Gunter (1925-2013), Feburary 12, 1948, Birmingham, Alabama. A popular country entertainer on Birmingham radio and television, Hardrock Gunter cut his first commercial records for the Bama label in 1950, and his first singles for that label — "Birmingham Bounce" and "(Gonna Rock and Roll) Gonna Dance All Night" — were notable harbingers of the coming rock and roll revolution. The two sides of this early acetate disc (whose label identifies yjhe performer only as "Sidney Gunter" or "Sid") reflect two characteristic elements of his performance style, his flairs for humor and instrumental virtuosity.
