Jenkins performed “Here Am I, O Lord, Send Me,” at Arrington’s request. “It’s a song that has special meaning for black people,” Rachel Arrington, the new mayor’s wife, told the Birmingham Post-Herald: “It means a lot to both Dick and me, and so we wanted him to sing it.”
