Title
"Win Praise In Elk Parade" (1944)
Description
Photo and caption, Chicago Defender, September 2, 1944.
"Birmingham, Ala., was well-represented in the Elk parade which featured the 45th Annual Session of the Grand Lodge in Chicago last Tuesday. The playing of 'Tuxedo Junction' by the band literally 'brought down' the thousands of spectators who cheered madly as the delegation passed down South Parkway. Photo shows Drum Major Jim Brown leading the procession. At right is James Kelly, grand secretary, who marched with the Birmingham group."
