Dr. Tolton Rosser (1932-2023) was a jazz musician, educator, and bandleader in Birmingham, Alabama. Rosser received degrees from A. H. Parker High School, Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of Alabama. For forty years he served the Bessemer City School system as band director, vice principal, and principal. He was also active as a musician, directing the long-running Birmingham Heritage Band from 1999 until his death in 2023. He was inducted to the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1992.
