Interview with Albert E. Brumley, Jr. (born 1933), recorded over the telephone by Darwin Lee Hill, July 22, 2005. Al Brumley, Jr.—son of the legendary gospel songwriter, Albert E. Brumley—established himself as an active performer and recording artist in the fields of country and gospel music. He has also been a devoted champion of his father’s music; his 2002 album 36 Greatest Gospel Memories: A Loving Tribute to Albert E. Brumley includes duets with a host of classic country stars, including Merle Haggard (with whom he also recorded the 2007 album Two Old Friends), George Jones, Porter Wagoner, Hank Thompson, and others.
